The clinic chose an appropriate graft number considering the age and the hair loss degree of the patient. Furthermore the donor seems to be properly harvested and no scars are visible in the extraction area. A final assessment based on the available photos of the extraction area was possible.

A conservative hair line was chosen. The hairline will still appear age appropriate in the future and grafts will be saved for future surgeries. A natural hair line has dominantly single grafts as in this case. The photos are sufficient for a final assessment of the hair line aesthetic and design.

In the present case it seemed to be that the FUE method is suitable. The FUE method is optimal for smaller graft numbers and has the advantage that no large scar is created as with the FUT method. To increase the possibilities of a successful, lasting result it is necessary to take hair loss medication like minoxidil and finasteride. However, the patient is apparently not treating its hair loss with medication.

2 Decision Process:

At the beginning of March I decided to have a hair transplant. It took a while until I was ready to undergo hair transplantation. Also the decision whether I would like to carry out this operation in Switzerland or in Turkey, which is known for it, was not easy. For Switzerland spoke clearly the way, as well as the language barrier and the legal security. For Turkey spoke the many reports on the Internet and the specialization in this area, as well as the costs which should definitely not be disregarded. I have written to a total of about 5 clinics or agencies and went to various for a personal interview. These were clinics and agencies from Switzerland, Austria and Turkey. I came across the respective clinics through Internet research and colleagues (who have already done a hair transplant). Finally, I decided to go to Turkey because of the specialization and that only the hair is transplanted in the respective clinics and not incidentally breasts, noses, lips or liposuction takes place. In addition, the lower costs compared to Switzerland also met me. Especially with clinics in Turkey I have noticed clear differences. For a 'security-loving Swiss' it is rather strange to contact via WhatsApp with the clinics or mediations, because it conveys a certain uncertainty and for me and the direct contact is missing. In economic interactions, I am more accustomed to the exchange via mail, which in my eyes is also more professional in appearance. However, I quickly noticed that all clinics and agencies in Turkey communicated in this way. With what I finally also got along. Based on the aforementioned Internet research and the recommendations, I wrote to three clinics and agencies in Turkey. The first two answered me quickly, but unfortunately in really bad German. What gave me not really security. Despite everything, I almost decided on one of the two, based on various reviews on the Internet and movies on Youtube. One day before the decision would have become final I came across the site of Health Travels on the Internet and looked at it a little more closely. Among other things, the very helpful and authentic video on YouTube. After that I decided to write to the agency. Now comes the clear and for me decisive difference. The mediation gave me some details via Whatsapp and asked if you could contact me by phone. This gave me a feeling of security and the feeling that the company is interested in me and it is not a commercial mass processing. It is also important to mention that at Health Travels, the important procedures are performed by the doctor himself and not by the assistants as in other clinics. I was able to ask the operator any questions I had and I received very quick feedback. This regardless of whether I wrote during the week, at night or on the weekend. Because of this professionalism and my research, I decided to use Health Travels.

3 Before Hair Transplant:

No sooner said than done, I was already on my way to Turkey. At the airport in Turkey I waited for the agreed person who should bring me to the hotel. I waited and waited and no person appeared. I became suspicious and worried whether I had really made the right decision. The operator gave me a phone number, which I could contact at any time in case of problems. What I also did. After that it went very fast and the person stood in front of me and accompanied me to the transport. While others, which obviously also traveled to Turkey because of some cosmetic surgery, were transported with a large group of people and this in any cabs or cars, I could get into a cleanly cleaned limousine. The feeling of security now slowly came back. I was driven to the hotel and accompanied to my room. Once there, I went through all my documents again and noticed that instead of the agreed 4* hotel, I was accommodated in the 5* hotel. Now, however, I was not quite sure if I had expressed myself incorrectly or if the mistake was with the operator. Again, I called the phone number known to me or wrote by Whatsapp. For the company this was no problem at all, they explained to me I could stay in the hotel if I wanted and did not have to pay extra or they move me to the 4* hotel. Since I liked the 5* hotel and did not want to move again, I decided to stay. This flexibility and professionalism (apart from the two minor problems) made me realize that I made the right decision. The next day I was met by my German supervisor in the hotel lobby. I was visibly nervous and still had some unanswered questions. He was able to answer all my questions well and explained to me that he himself had a hair transplant and was extremely satisfied. We drove together to the clinic where I was warmly received. I had imagined the clinic a little differently in my head. In my imagination, the clinic resembled a hospital, which was not the case at all. The clinic was a mix between a coiffure salon and a dentist (chair). I was the only client for the next two days, which I thought was great. With Health Travels it is not a mass processing and the wishes of the customer are also taken into account.

4 Surgery:

My doctor for the next three days (1st day pre-op & surgery, 2nd day surgery and 3rd day post-op) Dr. Gür, was already waiting for me. First, he looked at my hair very carefully and explained to me in which stage of hair loss I am and how the procedure will take place. After that, he drew in the places he wanted to implant and there were some photos from different perspectives. After that, my hair was washed and disinfected again and it was off to the operating room. Now the injections were given. The pain of the first injections can be compared to an internal stitch each time. After a few injections, the anesthesia began to take effect and I no longer felt any pain. The individual hairs (grafts) were pre-drilled by the doctor at the extraction site and then removed and disinfected by the assistant. The whole procedure lasted for a while and every time I had pain, I reported and was given another injection for the pain. When all the hairs at the extraction site were taken out, there was the lunch break. I was able to have my lunch, which I had ordered in the morning, in a room right next to the operating room. I could choose the menu myself from a small selection. As soon as I was fed, I went back to the operating room. There were again various injections to numb the head and then Dr. Gür drilled the holes in which the grafts would be inserted by the assistants and the assistant. My caregiver, was nearby during the entire procedure and regularly inquired about my well-being and translated where necessary. Holding still during the insertion of the grafts, was very stressful and time consuming. I was very happy when everything was done and I could move "freely" again. The rest of the procedure was explained to me and I was given medication for the first night. My caregiver brought me back to the hotel and gave me his phone number where I could contact him at any time, no matter when. The night was fine because of the medication and the good support pillow I brought from home. The next morning I was again met by the caregiver at the hotel lobby and we drove to the clinic. The second day was pretty much identical to the first day, minus the preliminary meeting of course. When this day came to an end, we went back to the hotel again.

5 After the Hair Transplant:

On the third and last day, I was picked up again by the caregiver and we checked out of the hotel. We drove to the clinic where Dr. Gür took another close look at the procedure and the result. Afterwards, my head was washed and I was able to put on a new T-shirt. There was a final meeting in which the exact procedure for the next two weeks was explained to me. The first two weeks are very important in my eyes. There are some things you have to pay attention to. After the meeting, photos were taken again and we said goodbye. With a sweat cloth around our heads, we went to the airport and back to Switzerland. Important to know here, if you fly only with the hand luggage, take a small can with you to refill any liquids and take on the plane.

6 Week 2:

Once home, I holed up at home for the next two weeks, trying to move as little as possible and follow the doctor's and Health Travel's instructions. Of course, there are more restful nights than after surgery but two weeks is foreseeable.

After 1 month:

In the first two weeks, Health Travels asked almost daily about the current status and asked if I could send pictures. After that, I was asked at least once a month.

Now about half a year has passed since the surgery. It takes 12-15 months until the final result appears. I am very satisfied with the result so far. I felt very well taken care of during the whole time, from the first contact with Health Travels until now.
