Only 20% of the transplanted hair is left
Only 20% of the transplanted hair is left

I underwent a hair transplant at Smile in 2022, which set me back more than 2000 euros. A year later, I’m left wondering if it was worth all the hassle and discomfort. Although I diligently followed their recommended procedure, I was attended to by technicians instead of a doctor. They promised a 70% survival rate for the transplanted hair. However, a year later and even after using additional hair products like Regane, only 20% of the transplanted hair remains. In retrospect, it neither seems worth the pain nor the expense.

Avoid, horribes results
Avoid, horribes results

I had my hair transplant in this clinic/factory on December 29, 2022, 3800 grafts (3290 euros). More a real factory in which maximizing profit is their main interest, the patient is secondary. When I arrived at the clinic, there wasn’t the interpreter (in Italian) I’d asked for and been promised, so I had to speak in English even though I wasn’t at all comfortable (only the “surgeons” speak English, the technicians only Turkish).
The consultation with the “surgeon” lasted a maximum of 90 seconds, he pointed roughly to the front line and was in a hurry. I had asked him to put also grafts and cover the whole central part, not just the sides. However, at the end of the operation, I was disappointed to find that my request had been ignored. When I asked for an explanation, they told me it was to avoid damaging my existing hair…. imagine my frustration. During the operation, there was an endless coming and going of people in the operating room, which I found unprofessional and above all unhygienic (the technicians were joking and even taking facetime calls). After and before the operation, 1 person explains the procedures for the treatment to 15 people at the same time…… I was persuaded to buy minoxidil/finasteride from them for 300 euros (no expiry date, no details on the label, third world really…), after a few weeks I had to stop, as it irritated my skin.
BUT THAT’S NOT THE WORST; the worst thing is the results. Regrowth was slow and difficult, I had problems with the medication I’d bought from them and my hair grew back very slowly and was extremely thin, with an unnatural angle, as if it were twisted, whereas I’ve never had hair like that. 10 months later I have indecent results, I’m almost ashamed to go out because of it. More than 3/4 of the grafts haven’t grown back, horrible density, the implanted hairs that have grown out go in all directions and are very thin (as soon as I touch them, they fall out) and every day I see the implanted hairs fall out. 3800 grafts wasted from my donor area (which was originally very rich).
