Cost of Hair Transplants in Israel

Contrary to popular belief, Israel is not one of the cheapest countries for a hair transplant in the world. However, it is still significantly cheaper than western countries like Canada and Australia. We recently conducted a cost analysis on hair transplants across the world.

Our results showed that the average cost for a hair transplant around the world is $14,298.49. Out of the countries in our list, Canada charges the most for hair transplants, as the average cost of the procedure is $17,500. Australia sits on a close second as the average cost for a hair transplant in the country is $13,751.

Compared to both of them, Israel is much cheaper with the cost lying somewhere in between $450 and $8000. Of course the exact cost you will have to pay depends on several factors. These include the quality of the clinic, experience level of the surgeon and the number of grafts you need to get.

Hair Transplant Methods in Israel

Most hair transplant clinics in Israel offer the follicular unit extraction (FUE) method. FUE is generally considered the most minimally invasive hair transplant method in the world. As it leaves minimal scarring which heals up pretty quickly.

Some clinics also offer the follicular unit transplantation (FUT) method, which is slightly more invasive than the FUE method. However, it does produce faster results.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction): FUE deals with individual hair follicles. Surgeons employ the use of specialized instruments like a punch tool to extract individual hair follicles from the donor area in the scalp. These hair follicles are then transplanted into the recipient areas of the scalp to promote hair growth in the region.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation): FUT, also called STRIP,  on the other hand involves using specialized instruments to surgically remove an entire strip of skin containing hair follicles from the donor area and transplanting them into the recipient area of the scalp.

How to Choose a Hair Transplant clinic in Israel

Navigating the hair transplant clinics in Israel can be difficult for foreigners who do not have in-depth knowledge of the country’s medical facilities. It can be especially tough for first time patients who don’t know how to differentiate the great clinics from the good ones.

Luckily, the checklist we have provided below should help you single out the exceptional clinics and surgeons in the country.

  • Check Reviews: Reviews and patient testimonials tell you a lot about the level of expertise of a clinic or even a surgeon. So make sure you look through as many as you can before you decide on a clinic.
  • Choose Quality over Quantity: The best way to identify reputable clinics is to identify how many procedures they are undertaking in a day. The best clinics focus on maximizing quality by undertaking 2 or 3 procedures a day.
  • Check Credentials: The experience and accreditations of a surgeon should contribute greatly to your decision of choosing a clinic. Look for surgeons that have certifications from the IAHRS and ISHRS.
  • Opt for Clinics that Offer Free Consultations: Consider clinics that offer free consultations as a part of their package, as that will allow you to evaluate the total cost of the procedure before you even step foot on foreign soil.
  • Check out Before and After Pictures: The best way to judge the consistency in results of a clinic is by going through the before and after pictures of satisfied previous patients who all returned home with a full head of hair.
